Addressing affordable housing
Supported by a private donor, SAYA was requested to address a pressing social issue in Israel, and come up with a solution for affordable housing. We have responded to this planning challenge by proposing to transform a centrally-based military training ground along Israel’s coast into a large, highly-dense neighborhood, offering around 20,000 new housing units for young families. The conceptual plan proposes the creation of a vibrant urban neighborhood along the shore and within the municipality of Rishon-Letzion. It follows green building codes and couples them with a network of public spaces, green areas and transport, with well-connected main streets and piazzas of various sizes, public amenities and cultural facilities, as a basis for obtaining vibrant urban life.
